BLUE LAGOON

Blaue Lagune, or Blue Lagoon, is a famous climb in the Wendenstocke area of Central Switzerland. Climbing it was the highlight of our trip in 2005. In the photo Chip Chace leads the beautiful 3rd pitch (5.11-) on perfect limestone. The next eight pitches are visible straight above following the overhanging blue streak. The 5.12c crux is way up there, and that rating is “obligatory” meaning there’s no way to aid through if you can’t do it free.
