THE PLANET PROJECT

It’s 3:23 in the morning and I’m awake

because my great, great grandchildren won’t let me sleep

my great, great grandchildren
ask me in dreams

what did you do while the
planet was plundered?

what did you do when the
Earth was unraveling?

surely you did something when
the seasons started failing

as the mammals, reptiles, and
birds were all dying

did you fill the streets with protest
when democracy was stolen?

what did you do once you knew?”

 - Drew Dellinger, from Hieroglyphic Stairway

We are at a turning point

Industrial civilization now impacts every corner of our planet. Our oceans are filling with plastic, our rivers and lakes with toxins, our fields with soil-depleting chemicals, and our brains with marketing messages; the polar ice is melting as the planet warms, while around the world authoritarians seek power, and American democracy is corrupted by money. Many of us, especially young people, know that our present civilizational model is not sustainable. Young people know their future is bleak if we continue with business as usual; and too many of us have lost hope and given up because the levers of power and change seem to be in the hands of big corporations and people with lots of money.

But a greater power lies in numbers. A major change can happen if large numbers of us join together around the shared vision of a civilization that works for everyone and a worldview that honors our Planet: All People, One Planet. We can take real actions together that are aligned with this vision – actions like voting, conscious buying and consuming, and boycotting harmful products and practices.

On a large scale, humanity must turn in a new direction, through a shift in culture and consciousness, to adopt and promote ways of life that take into account the wellbeing of the whole planet, all people, and all living beings. We must build a Planetary Culture, and this change can happen very rapidly in today’s world of social media and digital technology. Our goal is to reach 25% of the world’s population, or 2 billion people, with the Planet Movement.

The Shared Vision of the Planet Movement

The Planet Movement is a joining together of people who share this vision of the world we want:

  • A civilization that empowers all people to thrive and contribute.

  • A culture of sacred regard for all life and the Planet
