BOULDER SPORTS HALL OF FAME
In 2013, Mike Sandrock, a local runner and newspaper columnist, got the idea of recognizing Boulder’s vast stable of top athletes who were not in the “major sports” (football, basketball, baseball, golf, …), so he started the Boulder Sports Hall of Fame to recognize a runner, a cyclist, a triathlete, and a climber each year. In the second year Jim Erickson and I were chosen as the climbers, and in the following years there was Pat Ament, Lynn Hill, Jeff Lowe, and Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou, pictured here in 2018. I love this picture partly because I am so out of place in it: Lynn, Robyn, and Didier were all World Cup Champions and Brook was the first person to make the U.S. Olympic team in climbing and will be competing in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Me? Well …
