THE DIVING BOARD, COLOR

This was shot the same day the classic photo was taken. Dudley carried two cameras - one with B&W film and one with color. This is the rest spot just below the final crux. The free-hanging trail line was used to accentuate the overhanging nature of the entire climb. Equipment notes: great view of my PAs with white leather patches, swami belt (no harness), and knee socks like these will no doubt be in vogue soon. There was no such thing as “taping up”.
