Justin and MaryAnn on the Aiguille du Midi

On this trip in 2011, MaryAnn and Justin and I flew to Geneva, then drove to Chamonix where we spent a few days together. After that MaryAnn headed south on a train to meet a couple of girlfriends in Italy for a week-long bike tour to the coast, while Justin and I headed across Switzerland to Innsbruck where we met Wolf Schweiger, our friend from Boulder, and turned south to the Dolomites.

One of the things I always wanted to do in Chamonix was ride the tramway up to the Aiguille du Midi, so we did that and I was not disappointed. It’s mind-blowing! Here are J and M on the sky bridge, visible in the previous photo, with Mount Blanc (15,744 feet) in the background.
