TRE CIMA FROM MISURINA

This is a beautiful place near Cortina called Misurina. I stayed at this hotel on two different trips to the Dolomites. In the background are the south (easy) faces of the colossal Tre Cima di Lavaredo - Cima Ovest, Cima Grande, and Cima Piccolo. The back sides of these are among the great north faces in the Alps with a deep history of climbing dating back to the 1930s.

On the far right of the massif is the partially hidden Cima Piccolo, the smallest of the Tre Cima. We did a famous ten pitch route up the far right skyline called The Yellow Edge. Even though this climb was first done in about 1938 by Emilio Comici, it was plenty enough adventure for Wolf and Justin and me, especially doing a totally blind descent in the fog!
