MICHAEL GILBERT

Michael was one of my best partners throughout the 1980’s. He was a brilliant rock climber and a superb alpinist, but never got the recognition that came my way (but I’m positive he’s fine with that). In this photo he is leading Rocket Launcher (5.12-) on the Pool Wall in Ouray, one of many new climbs he developed in the area.
