EROICA

I consider Eroica (5.12b) the best climb I ever established. I made 4 or 5 attempts to climb it in good style between 1986 and 1989. Although I did the first complete ascent in 1987 with Eric Doub, I was not satisfied with the style we did it in, so I returned in 1988 with Chip Chace, and again in 1989 with Michael Gilbert.

In this image Michael Gilbert follows the crux 4th pitch which ends on Table Ledge. In the background is a party on the Yellow Wall Bivy Ledge doing the Casual Route. Eroica got very few ascents until recently, but I hear some people now think the crux is on the 2nd pitch and not this one.
